Nouramicyte®L-Methionine Health Benefits:
Nouramicyte®L-Methionine is an essential amino acid that cannot be synthesized by humans or animals. Due to its sulfuric methyl groups, it is an important methyl donor and sulfur source in living organisms. It plays a central role in metabolic pathways such as protein synthesis, methylation, and antioxidant reactions.
■ Source
In 1922, American chemist John Howard Mueller purified a sulfur-containing amino acid from feather hydrolysate. Through elemental analysis and degradation experiments, he determined its molecular structure and named it. In the 1970s, the microbial fermentation method gradually matured; however, due to its high cost, the chemical synthesis method remained the primary method. Currently, the chemical synthesis method is still the main method.
Foods that are rich in L-methionine include eggs, milk, fish, and lean meat. Animal proteins have a balanced ratio of methionine to other essential amino acids, as well as high bioavailability. In contrast, most plant proteins are low in methionine and require other amino acids to complement them.
Particularities of Nouramicyte®L-Methionine:
Product Specifications:
Nouramicyte®L-Methionine is available in the following specification and contents:

Product quality standards:
● USP/EP/BP/JP/Feed grade
Production technology description:
●The mainstream production process of L-methionine is chemical synthesis, in which racemic DL-methionine is produced through a chemical reaction. Then, the L-isomer is obtained through optical splitting. Currently, this is the main method used to produce food-grade L-methionine. Microbial fermentation is a green process that is gradually gaining popularity. This method uses engineered microorganisms to synthesize L-methionine with high purity through metabolic pathways, making it suitable for high-end food-grade products.
▶ Protein synthesis and muscle maintenance
▶ Regulation of fat metabolism and liver health
Nouramicyte®L-Methionine Applications:
Since the methionine content of plant foods is low, adding Nouramicyte®L-Methionine can balance the amino acid composition and improve protein bioavailability. It can be added to breast milk or formula to meet infants' and young children's demand for essential amino acids during growth and development. It can also synergize with vitamin E and selenium to enhance food's antioxidant capacity through glutathione synthesis. L-methionine is added to protein powders and energy bars to promote muscle synthesis and post-exercise recovery.
As a key component of parenteral nutrition, Nouramicyte®L-Methionine maintains the body's nitrogen balance in patients unable to eat orally, such as those undergoing surgery, suffering from burns, or undergoing cancer chemotherapy. Patients with phenylketonuria need to limit their phenylalanine intake. Low-phenylalanine formulas must be supplemented with L-methionine to prevent amino acid deficiencies.
Nouramicyte®L-Methionine is often the first limiting amino acid in feed ingredients. Adding it can reduce protein waste and promote animal growth. It improves intestinal development and immune function and increases the rate and quality of egg production.
The core function of Nouramicyte®L-Methionine is based on its fundamental role in amino acid metabolism as a building block for polypeptide chains that are involved in constructing and repairing human tissues.
Nouramicyte®L-Methionine acts as a lipid repellent that promotes phospholipid synthesis, prevents fat accumulation in the liver, enhances lipoprotein synthesis, and accelerates fat transfer out of the liver. Through its antioxidant effect, glutathione reduces the lipid peroxidation of liver cell membranes and helps improve liver diseases, such as hepatitis and cirrhosis.
▶ Supports growth and muscle synthesis
Adequate intake of Nouramicyte®L-Methionine promotes growth hormone secretion and supports bone and muscle growth. In contrast, deficiency may lead to growth retardation. As a synergistic component of branched-chain amino acids, methionine improves protein synthesis efficiency, helping athletes build muscle and helping post-operative patients repair tissue.
