Rosehip (Rosa rubiginosa/Rosa canina L.) belongs to the Rosaceae family and is a perennial deciduous shrub, commonly known as rosehip, wild rose, or dog rose. It is a traditional botanical ingredient widely used in the cosmetics, health supplements, and functional products industries. Because rosehip seeds are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, and possess exceptional moisturizing, restorative, and nourishing properties, they are gradually becoming a high-quality raw material for functional oils and skincare ingredients.

Nutruoil®Rosehip oil is extracted using a cold-press process from rosehip seeds or fruits sourced from China. Currently, both refined and unrefined grades are available.

Nutruoil®Rosehip oil is extracted from whole, ripe rosehips. Native to the temperate regions of Southern Europe, rosehips are now widely cultivated in temperate and subtropical regions worldwide, with Chile, Argentina, and China being the primary producing regions. Ripe rosehips contain oil-rich pulp and seeds; the oil is extracted by cold-pressing the whole fruit, followed by filtration to remove impurities. Nutruoil®Rosehip oil may also be derived entirely from the mature seeds of rosehips. Mature rosehip seeds contain 12%-20% oil, which is extracted from the seeds through cold pressing and further purified by filtration or refining.

Nutruoil®Rosehip oil Applications:

As a premium edible vegetable oil and a raw material for nutritional oils, rosehip oil can be used in functional beverages, salad dressings, nutrition bars, and baked goods to supplement essential fatty acids and enrich natural fat-soluble nutrients; it can also be blended with other edible oils to optimize the fatty acid profile of formulations.

Rosehip oil derived from the fruit consists primarily of triglycerides, with linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid accounting for approximately 65% to 78% of the total fatty acids, giving it unique physicochemical properties, such as a rich content of natural vitamins and moderate skin-nourishing benefits. Rosehip oil derived from seeds is also primarily composed of triglycerides, with linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid accounting for 70%-82% of the total fatty acids. It is characterized by a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, strong skin penetration, and potent antioxidant activity.
